The fundamentals are the fundamentals.

As for the lethality of the 77-grain 5.56 round, a friend of mine who was involved in seizing objectives in Western Iraq and one was of the first equipped with the SPR and that cartridge, told me it worked very well at distance. He offered to test it on any non-believers...
Hey I appreciate that Lindy, I guess I'll go buy some less expensive .223/5.56 ammunition to shoot until I start showing some consistency. That way I save my premium ammo.

One more question and this is off topic but, do any of you guys have any tips on how to see the hash marks on the TMR reticle more clearly? They are very fine lines and and hard for me to see. Perhaps I am not doing something right. My vision is 20-20 without glasses BTW.

Please start a new thread about this and I will be happy to "clear things up" for you.

I've been going on about this for a while now in my own community. Specifically, I've made the point that one need not hump a .30 cal. rifle and ammunition in order to be effective at 800m. I've even demonstrated this at 1K yards with the Mk.12 shooting M855 to prove a point.

I've humped the Mk.11 plenty to know how tiresome it can be and on my most recent rotation carried the Mk.12 exclusively, leaving my M110 unfired. My Jr. carried his M110 and was shocked to find that I had to dial 1/2 MOA less elevation at 775m with my Mk.12 and that my wind calls were mimicking his (admittedly, the winds were light in the valley that day).

I shoot LR with an SPR clone on my own time, too, and like the .308 less all the time.
